    Notes:

    My grandmother, Ida Hazlet Horton, told me that her grandmother (Margaret Ann Graham Hazlet, whom she knew well) was born in Ireland (that seems true) as the daughter of John Graham and "Lady" Margaret McKerl. Supposedly, Margaret Ann's parents were about to send her to a convent when her older brothers whisked her away to America.
    I have found no documentation whatsoever about Margaret Ann's parents or orgins other than census records that report that she and her parents were born in Ireland and that he immigrated in 1848. The first record that I have found for her is a cryptic Indiana marriage index that says only that she married (my great-great grandfather) Hugh Daughtery Hazlet in Benton County, Indiana on Dec 15, 1851. The 1900 federal census says that she was married in 1857, and oral history says Dec 15, 1857, so I'm sticking with 1857.

    so I consider the year (1851) of the marriage index to be the result of a typoMargaret would have been 16, which is pretty normal for the time, but I'm sticking with oral family history that says they were married in 1857. FWIW, their oldest child was born in 1857.
